Abdelrahman Barakat | Egypt
Abdelrahman is an artist and entrepreneur whose journey began with classical calligraphy with over 12 years of experience in the field. He has significantly contributed to integrating calligraphy into the broader creative scene. Expanding his expertise, Barakat explored lettering and typography, which led to co-founding Multaqa Alkhatt, now a leading hub for type and design in the MENA region. Multaqa Alkhatt serves as a multidisciplinary platform that brings together calligraphers, type designers, graphic designers, and artists through curated workshops, public discussions, talks, exhibitions, activations and international festivals. It plays a key role in fostering cross-cultural exchange and pushing the boundaries of Arabic visual expression.
He is also the founder of Werash Alkhatt, an academic platform dedicated to teaching type and design globally. His workshops and initiatives have reached audiences across Asia, Africa, Europe, and America, creating a truly international dialogue around Arabic script and design.
He is driven by a mission to reshape the Arabic type and design scene while preserving its cultural depth.
