Shared Experiences

In today’s world, we see a continuous rise in extremist and intolerant views, coming not only from individuals but also from powerful world leaders. With all these horrific events occurring today, it makes us question where the future is leading us. In these challenging times, we must remind ourselves that there are people across the globe who believe in goodness and still have hope that the present can be made better.

The most beautiful outcomes of the Fight for Kindness campaign are the unexpected experiences shared by designers and hosts who willingly contribute their time and organize events in their cities. They are united by a common goal: spreading positivity and hope within their communities. It is heartwarming to see that amidst the strife and chaos in the world, like-minded individuals believe, as we do, that spreading kindness and hope is possible—and worth fighting for. Together, we strive for a better, more inclusive, and tolerant world.

"Fight for Kindness is meaningful to me not only as a designer but also as a person. It encourages reflection, raises important questions, and inspires introspection. While contributing, I focused deeply on the message I wanted to share as a Ukrainian, striving to make it the central element.”

–KATERYNA KOROLEVTSEVA, GUEST AUTHOR

Since our first edition in 2022, we’ve seen incredible support. We are continually inspired by the generosity and enthusiasm of participants who graciously volunteer to help host exhibitions and events in their cities. This project provides our team with opportunities to collaborate with many distinguished talents from around the world, allowing us to learn more about their practices and cultures. Each collaboration becomes a valuable learning experience, revealing the myriad ways in which views can be expressed and highlighting the rich linguistic diversity of our global community.

"I was struck by how pure and universal the prompt was. Basing an exhibition on solely typography and kindness is something that everyone can be included in and produce something simple and beautiful. It gave contributors the room to explore and experiment. Being able to contribute generative design alongside illustration next to typesetting was really rewarding to see."

–KIEL DANGER MUTSCHELKNAUS, GUEST AUTHOR

It has been incredibly uplifting to witness more and more creatives participating in the project each year. This steady growth is a testament to the fact that people are eager for change and recognize the urgent need to take action, transform our mindset, and shift perspectives. Now is not the time to repeat the mistakes of the past, but to pave the way for a new, open, inclusive, and peaceful future—one where respect and the value of life are the primary driving forces that guide our society forward.

Together, through creativity and kindness, we can shape a better tomorrow. By fostering connections and amplifying voices that advocate for positive change, we are not just envisioning a brighter future—we all are actively building it together, one act of kindness at a time.

“Fight for Kindness is the perfect antidote to neutrality. It breathes ambition, builds memorability, so nowadays it is just necessary!”

–HÉCTOR AYUSO, GUEST AUTHOR

Now More Than Ever

2024 Fight for Kindness Annual

We are excited to announce the release of the 2024 edition contributors book: Now More Than Ever–Typographic Posters on Kindness from Around the World. The book is published and distributed worldwide by The Printing Office, an imprint of Lazy Dog Press.

The publication collects works created in this context by both emerging talents and more established names, highlighting how the project has brought together a vast international community of creators, with over 450 works from 355 participants in 23 languages and writing systems.

The collection includes posters and messages from some of today’s most renowned and influential creatives, including Debbie Millman, host of the famous Design Matters podcast; Ariane Spanier; Héctor Ayuso, founder of Offf Barcelona and Paradiso Fest; Baugasm; Kiel DM, creator of the Space Type Generator project; Simone Massoni; Kinda Ghannoum and Hala Al Afsaa from the Syrian Design Archive; and the talented Ukrainian designer Kateryna Korolevtseva.

The book also features four exclusive interviews and a typographic lookbook showcasing the typefaces used throughout its pages. Typography has a unique power in communicating messages that inspire change. As both an art form and a tool, it transforms ideas into visual experiences. Now More Than Ever seeks to celebrate this potential, demonstrating how designers worldwide can use typographic creativity to promote kindness as a driving force for social change.
