The global Fight For Kindness open call returns for its 4th edition, continuing to celebrate the power of kindness through typography. This non-profit initiative brings together both emerging and established creatives who believe in the ability of design to inspire positive social change.
A core value of the project is inclusivity: the entire creative community is invited to contribute—whether through typographic messages or articles. Submissions are welcomed from globally renowned figures, communication agencies, studios, freelancers, students, and design schools alike.
For students and educational institutions in particular, Fight For Kindness offers a rare opportunity to engage with universal themes—such as respect, inclusivity, love, tolerance, environmental responsibility, integrity, and human dignity—alongside influential voices in the world of communication and design.
Fight For Kindness as an academic project
Today, we want to look at the Fight For Kindness initiative through a different perspective and call the academic community to participate - teachers and students of design schools worldwide. The Fight For Kindness initiative is an amazing opportunity for young design talents - it teaches them to think and express complex social messages through their creations. It’s a project that reminds us that design, among other things, is also a powerful tool that should be used to drive change and address important social issues.
For young designers, indifference is not an option. Engaging with the world and forming strong perspectives on what truly matters is key—because it’s through conviction, not passivity, that impactful design is made.
The design industry can be a tough and complex environment to navigate. It has plenty of problems we are all well aware of - fair compensation and value of young designers' work, ethical work practices, healthy competition, mutual respect and many others. Those are the issues we need to talk about and bring attention to. And what better place to raise these issues than academic institutions — the very spaces where future design leaders are shaped and formed?

It’s important for young designers to be encouraged to express, through their work, the things that matter to them—the issues that move them and reflect their deepest concerns. Developing a thoughtful point of view can make a real difference, as indifference or passivity might limit the potential for truly impactful design.
It’s a project that reminds us that design is also a powerful tool that should be used to drive change and talk about important social issues.
That’s why we invite educators to bring the Fight for Kindness project into the classroom - whether it’s a class project, an individual portfolio piece, or a cross-department collaboration.
