Filippo Spiezia is Founder, Curator and Creative Director of Digital Design Days (DDD) — Italy's leading design and digital innovation event at Superstudio Village in Milan.
An award-winning Art Director and Visual Designer, Filippo has built an international career spanning Italy, the UK, and the United States, working on projects for global brands and leading creative studios. His work, focused on pushing the boundaries of digital storytelling, has been recognized by major industry awards including Cannes Lions, D&AD Awards, Awwwards and many other.
This year Digital Design Days celebrates its tenth anniversary with an extraordinary edition taking place May 7-9, 2026 at Superstudio Village in Milan.
Born in 2016 as an independent event, DDD has grown to become the global center of the digital design community, with over 4,000 professionals expected for this celebratory edition.
To celebrate this historic milestone, DDD presents an expanded format with three parallel stages, up to 100 international speakers and content exploring the future of design, creativity and artificial intelligence.
Digital Design Days has always had a strong and unmistakable connection to the digital world. Why focus a festival entirely on digital culture, and what core potentials or values are you aiming to highlight and promote through it?
Digital design is the language through which we shape the future of business and innovation. When I founded DDD in 2016, Italy and Europe lacked an event that treated this sector with the seriousness it deserves — not a tech fair or generic networking event, but a true reference point where designers, agencies and brands could discuss how creativity, technology and business meet to solve real problems.
The values are clear: absolute curatorial independence — no pay-to-play. Concreteness — applicable answers, not abstract future. Excellence — the brightest minds in the global industry. The 68% return rate and Google's recognition as "one of the 3 most authoritative events in the world" prove it works.
"This edition represents much more than an anniversary. We're celebrating 10 years of excellence while looking to the future. This isn't just a reunion: it's the perfect moment to bring together the worldwide digital design community - creatives, agencies, brands, startups, investors and emerging talents - for a truly immersive and transformative experience."

This year's lineup has been described as "stellar"— and I couldn't agree more. What criteria guide your selection process when balancing established names and emerging talents for Digital Design Days?
First, authenticity. I'm interested in people who have built something significant and have concrete experience to share, not those riding the hype of the moment. Second, relevance. Our audience is 78% decision-makers who come to understand how to grow, tackle AI, innovate. Every speaker must answer concrete questions the audience is asking now. Third, diversity of perspectives. A mix between visionaries like Stefan Sagmeister, operational leaders like Wesley ter Haar of Monks or Emily Rickard of BUCK who are transforming global agencies, technology pioneers like Phillip Maggs, and established studios like Active Theory, Field, Immersive Garden or Build in Amsterdam that bring consistently fresh and cutting-edge approaches.

We know that a personal health episode impacted the festival's timeline last year, leading to a thoughtful recalibration. Did that experience offer you any unexpected insights or lessons — either personally or in relation to your vision for Digital Design Days?
Yes, in 2025 I had a heart attack. It forced me to stop and reconsider everything.
Personally, I understood that taking care of yourself is a responsibility, not optional. I learned to truly delegate and build a solid team.
For DDD, that pause also gave me perspective and more time to build a tenth anniversary event worthy of the milestone. While reflecting, I also confirmed that it cannot be just an annual event — it must become a platform that creates value all year round. I'm actively seeking a partner to scale the project and develop many new business lines to respond to the community's needs and requests.
We'll reveal many things at the next edition in May. For the 10th edition it won't be just celebration — we'll lay the foundations for the next 10 years.
